Yes, this website is under construction ~ but I'm also writing a book.

 

I've been writing a book for years. Someday, I hope, "I'm writing a book" will become, "I wrote a book and you can find it at ..."

 

For now I'm calling it, "When Death Happens".

 

Here's a little blurb to let you know what it's about:

Someone you care about will find out that someone they care about has unexpectedly died.

You won’t have much time to think about it. 

 

Your potential for having a positive impact on their experience depends mostly on your willingness to stand by them. 

 

But what do you know of the horrors they will face?

 

This is not a book to give to a griever. It is for you—a bystander. It is designed to be used as your tool; something to spur you on to your own way of standing by your friend.

 

I’m not writing this book because I’m great at bystanding. I’m writing it as a person who’s been on the receiving end of good (and bad) bystanding. 

 

Scores of grieving people have taken the time to sit and talk with me about the bystanders in their lives and the powerful impressions they have made.

 

Walk with me from the moment you hear and see what can be done with true and loving hands.

 

This guide is not comprehensive - it does not have everything you need to know about Bystanding 101 - for at least three reasons:

 

*There is no right way to do the these things

        

*Each experience will be as individual as the person who died, the ones who are trying         to survive the unexpected death and their relationship with each other

 

*There will always be more helpful information available  

 

The book is intended to be used as a springboard/catalyst/jumping in point. Use it to find your own way.

 

See what others have done before you and consider how you can use the examples of their good works in your own situation.

 

I look forward to the day this book will have spit and polish... for now it's mostly spit with the promise of polish.
